Artist of the Week: Gucci Mane


In 2005, he released his independent debut album entitled Trap House, which featured the successful single "Icy" with Young Jeezy. However, disputes over the rights to this single eventually caused a riff between the two artists. Hard to Kill followed in 2006.

Gucci Mane was propelled to mainstream success with the release of Back to the Trap House in 2007, which sold 32,000 copies its first week. The album was fueled by the hit single "Freaky Gurl", which peaked at #12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Rap Tracks.

After ending another prison term, Gucci Mane began working on a mixtape called Writing on Da Wall and "Guccitendo". A new official mixtape "Guccimania" has some of his new 2009 singles featured on the mixtape.2 Gucci Mane Has Recently Signed A Deal With Warner Bros. Records3

Recently, he has appeared on remixes of the Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow" and Mariah Carey's "Obsessed". He also makes a guest appearance on Mario's "Break Up".
