CLIPSE ft. KANYE WEST - KINDA LIKE A BIG DEAL

Artist of the Week: Gucci Mane

In 2005, he released his independent debut album entitled Trap House, which featured the successful single "Icy" with Young Jeezy. However, disputes over the rights to this single eventually caused a riff between the two artists. Hard to Kill followed in 2006.

Gucci Mane was propelled to mainstream success with the release of Back to the Trap House in 2007, which sold 32,000 copies its first week. The album was fueled by the hit single "Freaky Gurl", which peaked at #12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Rap Tracks.

After ending another prison term, Gucci Mane began working on a mixtape called Writing on Da Wall and "Guccitendo". A new official mixtape "Guccimania" has some of his new 2009 singles featured on the mixtape.2 Gucci Mane Has Recently Signed A Deal With Warner Bros. Records3

Recently, he has appeared on remixes of the Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow" and Mariah Carey's "Obsessed". He also makes a guest appearance on Mario's "Break Up".

Its Bout To Get Hectic: Young Jeezy - 24/23 (Gucci Mane & OJ Da Juiceman Diss) [Audio / Dirty Version]

Gucci Mane & OJ Da Juiceman Respond To Young Jeezy Diss: “We Not Feedin’ Into That”

June 15 Young Jeezy leaked a song targeting fellow Atlanta rappers Gucci Mane and OJ Da Juiceman.

On the track, titled “24-23,” Jeezy first takes aim at his longtime rival Gucci. “I’m on my Louie shit today/ fuck some Gucci, mane,” he spit. “These niggas still on my dick/ they like some groupies, mane/Can’t keep they lips closed/ they worse than coochies, mane/ And that fruity looking stupid/ like some Coogi, mane/ Let you trick me off these streets/ you must be stupid, mane/ Tell him this ain’t what he want/ not the boy Snow/ But between me and you/ I think the boy slow.”

He then takes aim at Gucci’s friend OJ. “Straight shots to the head, fuck some juice, man,” he added. “Next to real n—-s in the city who got the juice, mane. these n—-s talking bout the work but what they prove, mane. Y’all know these n—-s really clowns but I’m the truth, mane. And this is what you goin’ for then what’s the use, mane. Tell him this ain’t what he want, not the boy Snow. But between me and you, I think them boys slow.”

When XXLMag.com reached out to both OJ and Gucci’s management for comment, the current XXL cover stars said: “We not feeding in to that. We getting money.”

The Snowman has a controversial history with Gucci. Back in 2005 Jeezy put out several diss songs against the rapper, claiming he was not paid sufficiently for his appearance on Gucci’s hit single, “So Icey.” Gucci alleged that Jeezy went as far as putting a hit out on him, which many believe lead to Mane killing a man – rumored to be a Jeezy associate - in self-defense. Since ’05 there have been no other incidents between the two rappers.

Ironically all three MCs are set to play two shows together this weekend, 102 Jamz’s SuperJam In North Carolina and Hot 107’s Birthday Bash in A-town.

Fab Gets Auto-Biographical for “Loso’s Way”

After releasing the cover and tracklist for yesterday, Fabolous is promising fans his most personal album with “Loso’s Way.” The main theme of the album will focus on the dangers and challenges of transitioning from street life to an honest living.

The motif reflects its movie inspiration, Carlito’s Way, which starred Al Pacino as a gangster struggling to go straight after years of criminal activities.

Along with the LP, Fabolous will drop a 30 minute mini-film companion piece.

Several trailers for the project are now available on youtube, and have helped in creating a buzz for the Brooklynite.

To date, two advance singles have been released for Loso’s Way: The Dream-assisted “Throw It In the Bag” (produced by Tricky Stewart), and “It’s My Time,” featuring Jeremith and produced by the Runners.

The former is listed as the #1 Most-Added song in the Rhythm radio format, while the latter holds the same distinction in the Urban format.

Both singles also premiered last week on MTV.

The album will be the first in 3 years for Fabolous, and serve as a followup to 2007’s gold-certified From Nothin’ to Somethin’.

At press time, Fabolous is scheduled to perform in Los Angeles with NeYo at this year’s BET Awards on June 28.

Loso’s Way will be released on June 30 through Desert Storm/Def Jam.
